Dimensioning The Wood
Pick a good face side and plane it flat. Square up the sides to the face side.
Cut the other face square on the table saw. Plane this face.
Cut width to 5 3/4" on table saw, you have to flip it to cut all the way
through. (I got a piece of veneer a 1/16" thick from this cut)
Cut one end square on table saw.
Cut block square to 14" long.
If I ever do this again I'll get a table top planer.
