New 3 Wheeler Model

Finish

Glue the cross frame onto the chassis.

Painting

Paint the tires and the front of the upper body (inside the cowl) in flat black.

NOTE: I found on the Plus 8 model that small pieces I glued on after the Tung Oil was applied did not stick very well. To avoid any problems do not apply the Tung oil finish to the top of the chassis or the top of the chassis slot in the body, and try to keep it off the bottom of the engine and the back half of the engine mount lip. You should lightly sand these areas before gluing just to be sure.

Apply coats of the Tung Oil following the instructions on the can until you are happy with the level of gloss.

NOTE: The Tung Oil seems to wick into corners. Check 10 to 15 minutes after the first wiping down of each coat and re-wipe any thick places in the corners. Check again in another 10 to 15 minutes. Even after this I still see a little bit of extra beside my cowl and behind the steering wheel.

Assemble it dry to make sure it all fits (As if you haven't been doing this at each stage like I did!)

Gluing it together

  1. Select the worst looking wheel and install it in the rear.
  2. Glue the chassis into the slot under the body.
  3. Put the axle pins through the front wheels, apply a drop of glue in the axle holes, push the pins into the holes while holding a piece of cardboard between wheel and cross frame to prevent pinching the wheel too tight for it to spin.
  4. Glue the engine onto the engine mount.

SMILE! Go show it off.
